How to Get Your Awning Ready for the Season
Preparing your SunSetter Awning for Operation Is Simple and Easy
Your SunSetter retractable awning is designed to be relatively maintenance free. These simple steps will get your awning ready for the season.
Keep It Clean
If your awning is dirty, a light brushing with a broom can work wonders.
If that doesn’t remove the dirt, or if you see that there’s staining, use a mild soap and water solution and a brush, then rinse with water. For your convenience, SunSetter offers a Cleaning Kit with everything you need.
Plug It In and Check the Batteries
If you’ve unplugged the motor on your motorized retractable awning for the winter, plug it back in. Then, check the batteries on your remote and replace them if necessary. Remote Style 1 uses CR2430 and remote Style 2 uses CR2032. Also, if you’ve removed the valance for the winter, put it back on at this time.
IMPORTANT: Make sure your remote is set to Channel 1.
Lubricate the Roller Bar Bushing
On the roller bar, you will find a plastic bushing. It’s a good idea to lubricate this bushing. Any type of lubricant will work. This will keep your awning working smoothly and squeak-free. Other places you might want to consider lubricating are the pivot points of the lateral arm elbows and the plastic hand cranks—these two places can also squeak.
Is That All?
If that sounds simple—it is. SunSetter retractable awnings are designed for years of worry-free use. The components and fabric are designed for an outdoor environment. Completing this short list of tasks will ensure that your awning operates smoothly this year—and for years to come.
